For Don Pablo
Write me a poem, Poet,
a poem about a girl I love
a girl I can't take out of my mind
a girl whose eyes sparkle
as bright as the moon
and as bright as the stars
when the moon is absent
in my cloudless louisiana night
She once touched my hand,
accidentally,
still, I felt the electricity
of her presence,
the tingle all over my body
the longing to be near
the girl I can't take out of my mind
and whose eyes sparkle like the moon
in my cold louisiana night
Poet, write me a poem
and name it for Angela,
the girl who keeps my nights long -
long with anticipation
and long with anxiousness
and long with this longing
to touch the softness of her hands,
the silkiness of her skin,
her flowing long black hair
If only this once
Just this once
For then my aching heart
may not be able to breathe
the air that is her perfume,
the fragrance that is her being,
the scent that is my longing,
and keeps me haunting, waiting,
praying, hoping, anticipating
For that one moment when she arrives
in my presence, in my embrace,
in my tears, and in my fears,
and in my world waiting only for her...
Poet, write me a poem
and please hurry
I may not be able
to hold on
to these emotions
for long...
